This is probably one of my personal favorite weather websites. It is very user friendly and easy to navigate. Once you put your zip code into the weather search box, it will remember it and so every time you visit the site from your computer, it will display on the main screen the current conditions for the zip code you entered along with the temperature readings from local weather stations. You can also get way more in depth weather conditions as you click around a bit on the website. There are tabs on top to access local weather, maps & radar, severe weather, and also weather blogs. There is a ton of blog entries obtainable through the site depicting weather patterns all over the world. I really like the maps and radar because the images are very easy to understand and depict what is going on. They do a really nice job of putting articles up to put in layman's terms how different components of weather work as well. There is A LOT of great info.

This link is for a local news channel in Eau Claire, WI and is nice to reference when I need to get some accurate local readings as well as more specific articles on the weather patterns happening at a local scale. This site does not contain as much as the national weather sites but I still look at it everyday. The chief meteorologist usually has a daily blog post about current weather trends and gives a quick forecast at the end. Local averages, highs, and lows are also given at the bottom of the page. They do lack a variety of forecast and surface maps with just one current radar.

This website has a very similar interface as wunderground.com. I especially like the weather maps on this website. They really stand out and are very aesthetically sound. Once again, you can get your local weather updates here with hour by hour forecasts as well as video forecasts for the region. There are lots and lots of blogs written by weather professionals describing weather patterns and there is also a large section of weather related videos as well. You can get an app for your smartphone as well for this site which I think a lot of weather sites do nowadays.

Another great source of weather information. You have everything from national to local forecasts and maps. They have a good selection of static and interactive maps available. I don't think the maps are as great as some other websites in terms of looks but they do display the information in an easy to understand fashion. Once again, there is a plethora of professional blogs and videos as well as a live chat link where you can tune in with meteorologists on certain topics. They also have the top 5 weather articles/topics right on the homepage.

This link will take you to the weather station located on the UWEC campus. This is a great resource as well, but doesn't always get updated. It lists current conditions, daily history(with graphs), weekly history, and monthly history. The information garnered from this station is sent to Weather Underground to update their pages. There is a tab to view local radar which shows 3 radars; all from Weather Underground.

Another local news station in Eau Claire which has a pretty decent weather page. You can find some brief weather updates from the local meteorologists as well as detailed forecasts. I think they do have a good map selection for a local weather site. You can find maps for every region in the U.S. here as well as a wide range of topic specific maps i.e. jet stream map, dewpoint map, severe weather map, wind speed map etc...

I never heard about this website until this semester but it is definitely a great resource. I like their surface maps and how they use the weather symbols on the map which really contain a great deal about the current weather conditions over an area i.e. temperature, wind speed, wind direction, dew point, cloud cover, pressure, precipitation etc...They also have great satellite imagery including infrared and water vapor maps. You can also get local weather condition updates. The site does a great job of giving a description of what each different type of map is displaying. I believe that they are tied in with NOAA as their parent company.
